Description
Ha! I told you guys I would keep my promise when I said I would create my "German-themed" cybergoth costume! And now it's finally finished! WOOO!
My photo was taken on Halloween at my friend 's party, where I finally got to flaunt my new outfit. Everyone loved it. I even won the prize for Best Costume! ^_^
It took a pretty long while to make the wig. I don't know what I did the second time around, but when I made this batch of dreadlocks, they seemed a lot skinnier (especially the twisted color dreads). Also, I decided that instead of using the crinoline tubes, I would use foam falls tied together with electrical wire instead. I know it's a little difficult to see the exact details in this picture, but I'll post up the WIP on the wig so you can see what I mean.
Now the dress is a different story. From the reference that I had originally used ([link]), I was originally gonna do something like the green theme, where I would wear my corset and black skirt and then outline it with colored duct tape. Instead, what me, my boyfriend, and my boyfriend's mom did was take an over-sized t-shirt, and then wrapped black duct tape all around the shirt on my body, until we cut off the top, cut it down the middle, and sewn a zipper in the back. Lastly, the hazard tape was criss-crossed on the dress, and on my chest as well.
The arm warmers were also done the same way were I slipped t-shirt fabric on my arms, wrapped the duct tape around them, and then attached Velcro on the side.
My gas mask and German-flag fluffies were also lovely additions to my outfit. ^_^ I didn't get a chance to carve a design into the mask filter when I took it to the party though. If I go to Metrocon this summer, I'll be sure to wear this costume again with a cool design built into it.
----
Materials I used on the wig:
A black Halloween witch wig for the base
Kanekalon hair (black, red, and yellow)
Craft foam strips (dark red, yellow, and black) with pyramid studs
Rexlace string (red and yellow)
Electrical wire (red and black) twisted together
Embroidery floss (crimson and gold) intertwined within the witch wig braids.
Materials on the dress:
T-shirt fabric
Black duct tape
Yellow Duct tape
Reflective yellow hazard tape
Materials on gas mask:
Black electrical wire
Yellow electrical wire
Red electrical wire
